Thread: manage with networkmanager

i'm using ubuntu 11.04 i386 classic.

did clean install on system connected router not have dhcp server using 11.04 i386 alternate cd. during installation set static ip address.

installation finished fine , have connectivity static ip on eth0, networkmanager isn't managing connection , don't remember settings switch ip managment networkmanager.

it's late, i'm tired. took me minute figure out.

edit /etc/network/interfaces

comment out, or remove lines
code:
# primary network interface #auto eth0 #iface eth0 inet static #	address 192.168.1.2 #	netmask 255.255.255.0 #	network 192.168.1.0 #	broadcast 192.168.1.255 #	gateway 192.168.1.1 #	# dns-* options implemented resolvconf package, if installed #	dns-nameservers 8.8.8.8 8.8.4.4 192.168.1.1
then
code:
sudo /etc/init.d/network-manager restart
one thing i'm not sure though,
/etc/networkmanager/networkmanager.conf

line:
[ifupdown]
managed=true

switching true false seems have no effect on anything....
know why is? curious

code:
# file installed /etc/networkmanager, , loaded # networkmanager default. override, specify: '--config file' # during nm startup. can done appending daemon_opts in # file: # # /etc/default/networkmanager # [main] plugins=ifupdown,keyfile [ifupdown] managed=true
