hi   i'm on windows 8 (64 bit) , pe11.  today lost work although had saved regularly , have re-render often.  tonight i'm trying re-do day's work, i'm losing sync , entire clips keep disapearing.  seems becoming increasingly unstable.  don't know if i'm doing wrong or, possibly, windows 8 , premire elements 11 aren't best fit.  i've noticed few other post mentioning window 8 problems although seem differ mine.   the head of @ company wants remove windows 8 , install windows 7 on computer (mainly becasue of vpn issue) afraid lose work.   can suggest way, or number call, tell me how can save work, rid myself of windows 8 , re-import work windows 7 enviornment?  fear 2 weeks of work going in smoke.    ps posted earlier, having increasing frequent crashes.   please help   thank you i'd advise making complete system backup before handing machine on os install. use product macrium reflect. there paid version have, there free version . make note of path p

i had working audio in 11.04, when upgraded 11.11 got problem. when plug in headphone, no sound it. did these steps find problem: - removed headphone jack. (sound comes speaker). - opened system settings, went sound, output tab. connector says "analog speaker". - plug in headphone. connector switched "analog headphone" , sound goes away. - manually switched "analog speaker". sound comes headphone should have been. have every single time plug in. here info of laptop: type: fujitsu siemens amilo xi3650 sound card: hda-intel. /proc/asound/pcm: (from alsamixer) 00-00: alc888 analog : alc888 analog : playback 1 : capture 1 00-03: alc888 digital : alc888 digital : playback 1 same, same workaround well. i cannot acer aspire 5253 laptop resume suspend or hibernate @ all. i've crawled these , other linux-related forums past several weeks, , attempts fix have not been successful. @ writing, i've owned laptop 2 months now, , intent install ubuntu minute got hands on it. since i've owned it, it's had natty , oneiric installed on it. system seems go suspend fine; however, when try wake up, display not turn on. otherwise responsive - once it's awake, can ssh workstation (assuming network devices have awakened too), no display! keyboard works because can reisub reboot it. oddly , dismay, suspend worked when booted live cd (both 32- , 64-bit versions). can't figure out why doesn't work on full installation. thought maybe there issue proprietary graphics driver (fglrx), formatted , did fresh install see if suspend (and wake up) open source ati driver. nope, same thing. hibernating doesn't work either. attempt swap disk , fail, come lightd

just loaded 11.xx minmal install server no x installed. @ every boot up, funky screen reverse highlighted repeated "u" umlaut, followed xgifb errors , text login prompt. works expected after that. take xgifb attempt load sort of better-than-text resolution on terminal. don't care graphics mode on (mostly) headless server. anyway rid of this? error or package? it's low resource server, i'd rather remove package... i confused mdadm functionality. have been playing utility , have read number of articles , pages on mdadm. seems fine, yet every raid array have created starts being degraded , repairing. "repairing" takes many hours (16 plus hours seems quite normal) yet none of articles or pages mentioned issue. if reboot machine @ anytime before repairing complete, repairing ceases , doing formatting array causes restart again beginning. also, rebooting has array move /dev/md0 /dev/md127 no apparent reason. correct? seems strange me, having set arrays in windows i'm used them working once configured , going degraded state if there subsequent failure, seems odd , broken behaviour me, since have wait 16 plus hours before can continue configure , install machine. array randomly move /dev/md127 somewhere else @ stage too? hi, im new forum. been using ubuntu on various pc's laptops few years. im user rather developer , capable of general maintenance. problem: installed ubuntu 11.10 64bit on new asus et2410ints in dual boot win7 64 bit. install problem option install alongside not provided -after partition work install ok. problem seems 11.10 unable access full broadband speed , network connection not working or being throttled 11.10 instal. im using wired ethernet connection through netgear powerline adaptors , not using wifi @ all. used speedtest.net check - win 7 boot gives 14-16mbits/s down , 1.5 - 11.10 boot gives 2.3mbit/s down , 0.02 up. have tried complete reinstall , same occurs. connection fine laptop running xubuntu 11.10 via wifi. running software updates hard due connection timing out. suggestions or pointers getting network connection working appreciated have seen people request findings of sudo lshw -c network here are: -------
