Thread: Acer Aspire 5253 does not resume from suspend/hibernate - black screen

i cannot acer aspire 5253 laptop resume suspend or hibernate @ all. i've crawled these , other linux-related forums past several weeks, , attempts fix have not been successful. @ writing, i've owned laptop 2 months now, , intent install ubuntu minute got hands on it. since i've owned it, it's had natty , oneiric installed on it.

system seems go suspend fine; however, when try wake up, display not turn on. otherwise responsive - once it's awake, can ssh workstation (assuming network devices have awakened too), no display! keyboard works because can reisub reboot it. oddly , dismay, suspend worked when booted live cd (both 32- , 64-bit versions). can't figure out why doesn't work on full installation. thought maybe there issue proprietary graphics driver (fglrx), formatted , did fresh install see if suspend (and wake up) open source ati driver. nope, same thing.

hibernating doesn't work either. attempt swap disk , fail, come lightdm screen.

i'm started. have laptop can't suspend or hibernate in ubuntu. ideas? in advance.

ati radeon hd 6250, 256mb vram
8gb ram

running oneiric 64-bit
linux kernel 3.0.0-12-generic
swap partition size 20gb

two things:
1. on acer travelmate 8371, cannot resume suspend, either, in case, computer shuts down when wake up. suspend worked fine in lucid , maverick, in natty , oneiric it's broken.
2. used have graphics bug on same machine, caused screen go black no reason. can fix switching text terminal (ctrl+alt+f1) , gui (ctrl+alt+f7). guess causes gui screen redrawn. too.
