i don't understand this. know solution recovery mode , run chmod 440 /etc/sudoers isn't mode 0444 got more permission? how come if /etc/sudoers isn't mode 0440 when doing sudo error. because correct 444 has more permissions 440. sudoers file requires file's owner , in same group can read it. when change mode 444, file can read everyone. that's why sudo won't work if permissions lax. way correct is, say, boot recovery mode , set right permissions. ok, have been running plain ubuntu desktop 11.10 on asus eepc netbook. saw lubuntu on pc week slide show , talked how lighter on resources , better choice on machines less horsepower. downloaded , ran on netbook, , lubuntu seems use more memory plain vanilla install. on lubuntu, have terminal open running top, , chrome opened up. on desktop version, have terminal running top , firefox loaded up. lubuntu distro seemed using more memory regular desktop version. please me understand going on here. are running lubuntu off of usb stick or disk, or did install it on netbook? running off of usb use alot more memory if you have installed. hi, for time - must admit, don't know anymore changed in system @ time - photoshop shows me pure blue color black. strangely enough in layer section small previews still show correct color , pipette still measures correct values. when save image , open example in firefox also  correctly shown.   i downgraded ati drivers (to 11-11_vista64_win7_64_dd.exe) , set photoshop default configuration (start ps while pressing shift+alt+ctrl) pure blue still shown black. (gradient goes pure rgb yellow pure rgb blue respectively red blue; info-palette shows values of pipette hovering rgb 0|0|255)     my system: win7 64bit amd pcie radeon 7850 2gb sapphire   i hope has solution.   regards arne i have been having same issue jpeg files (also same issue green). it's lighter shades of blue or green black treatment. entire blue/green surface not turn black. it's 80% of surface, , other times it's 50% of surface. other photo editors (including photoshop elements 10 , corel paintshop x5)

gnome configured, know because when tried 20 times let me in once. figure gnome can't problem because won't let me xterm or lubuntu either (same partition). thought might because there no space on drive, when got in 1 time tried delete files, said didn't delete, clicked delete , nothing visible happened. went windows, got ext2 volume manager , said had 7gb of free space, if had deleted files. mounted linux partition, looked @ files, tried delete movie, told me couldn't delete because didn't have write permission , when looked again had 13gb of free space. i'm using lucid lynx 32bit. free space problem go away if can delete files live disk? are referring home directory? wild guess userid different 1 directory belongs to? simple ls -l show id dir belongs to. either change id using usermod or ownership of dir.
