Phantom User Registration - Joomla! Forum - community, help and support

i have joomla 3.5 site when created several years ago, allowed users register. feature has been turned off several years now, every email alerting me "new user". there not new user, not know how stop these emails appearing. have akeeba admin tools installed , have blocked ip addresses them, different ip. ideas?

have checked logs see how these emails being sent (e.g. script sending them). advise check apache logs (just grep ip blocked) - tell done in order send email.

i'm assuming, of course, sure emails being sent server, , not somewhere else , pretending sent website.
