Thread: No Network Management, but WiFi Working

i installed xubuntu 11.10 on old machine using pcmcia wifi card. working beautifully, there 1 problem:

installed using "alternate cd," , during installation, asked me manually type ssid , passphrase nearby wifi network (so use internet during installation). did, , worked perfectly.

now, when i'm booted xubuntu, have internet connection (via wifi...the network set during installation), network manager icon says "device not managed," , impossible me choose other wifi networks, disconnect one, etc.

how can network manager work properly? wifi card functioning fine.

in advance!!!
