before going on, new ubuntu user, , switched mac osx, , i'm not computer savvy.

trying run "rift" finish patching, tells me: "your directx9 install needs updated." "directx out of date!" above. go through, , follow steps "update" it. i'm not sure directx exactly, i'm through 'download' gives me "internal system error occured" message, telling me refer dxerror.log in windows folder. don't have windows folder, knowledge. so, i'd know how make doesn't keep occurring? can run rift on computer?

sounds may need throw in missing dll's , maybe few other things if haven't open terminal , type winetricks ( or sh winetricks) reason changed script around once you're in go "select default wineprefix" go first option grab d3dx9_43, vcrun2005 , dotnet ( use rift wow , lotro , few random others i've ever had bother make them work other little workarounds) once have installed try again if wors awesome if not open terminal , type "lspci" , post info here or launch game through terminal , post out put here seems lot goes quick last 2 steps sugest if game doesn't work 1 may able give more specific anser why
