Thread: Preventing monitor shutdown in virtual terminal

howdy,

how can prevent automatic monitor switch-off (or whatever it's called... when you've been inactive minutes , computer stops sending output screen) when i'm in virtual terminal session, x stopped? in ubuntu desktop settings, i've told never switch screen off, doesn't seem apply when in virtual terminal/not in ubuntu (11.10) gui. not sure how @ these settings terminal! appreciated.

background:
i'm running program on gpu using pycuda on ubuntu 11.10. gpu useable, have go virtual terminal , stop x before running pycuda stuff. problems arise when terminal thinks has been inactive while (i.e. have not typed anything), stops sending stuff monitor. interrupts pycuda program , causes fail. can sit @ computer , press keys every prevent this, program takes quite long time , i'd rather not sit in front of computer day...

trying figure out same thing on here.

can press control+alt , f1-f6 , screen fades black.
can begin logging in before screen goes black.

can't find info on this. can see text plain day, don't think driver issue, since have using ati , nvidia cards across multiple versions of ubuntu.

i'm considering ditching ubuntu , going fedora.
