Bridge stopped working - no folders or images

bridge working fine yesterday. today, nothing.

 

opening bridge results in spinning colour wheel. no folders open, no images appear...nothing works.

 

all other software on system fine. bridge seems have stopped working.

 

perfomed numerous force quits , restarted machine... no luck. bridge no longer works.

 

what cause this?

 

mac os 10.7.5, bridge cs4

reset preferences.  hold down option key , start bridge.  reset window 3 options.
