Thread: need help with proxy setup

i've been @ 3 hours , can't lucid work through local or remote proxy.

need complete newbie guide setting local encrypted proxy ftp , http/s.

changing proxy settings in seamonkey or firefox doesn't work. after changing manual proxy settings still same public ip if selected "direct internet connection," or "no proxy."

help!

i've tried tor, torbutton, polipo, , squid. can't work, , need simple solution. don't understand ssh or vps, , i'm trying free (not cheap - needs way now.)

searched , down, including blackhat , ubuntu forums. can't work.

ps: took 5 minutes set before re-entering north america. had wipe computer before coming in (heavy activist here), , can't set @ all.

i'm not sure if i'm on static ip or not. think it's static, because it's same ip between reboots. (don't know isp @ moment.) ip begins 70.28.**.***
