Thread: Getting 1000's of zombie processes! Help!

i tilted new lamp install of 11.10 64 bit server.

of sudden getting 10k+ zombie processes. seen many 32k.

seems though coming fuser dont think right.

ran ps aux | awk '{ print $8 " " $2 " " $11}' | grep -w z try , identify processes.

bit new ubuntu unclear causing these zombie processes , how diagnose , fix.

tips , ideas appreciated.

ok restarted once, stil there.

restarted 2nd time. zombies gone.

, 5 minutes later, 32k zombie processes back.

going on?
