Thread: How to install packages from older releases?

hi,
i'd appreciate if me this: i'm compiling program, , 1 of dependencies old release of ubuntu. ubuntu developed, package (libgtkmm2.0-dev) no longer offered, of course. package in turn depends on many other "-dev" packages. don't want go off , find source code , go on literally endless compiling spree! there way add source of these packages (e.g. ppa) sources.list or something? ubuntu mirrors of use? download them somewhere?
thank help. i'm glad part of great community!

you should able add old repositories /etc/apt/sources.list, though i'd in maverick_sources.list in sources.list.d (whatever .d in /etc/apt/ named). prefer newer version, if need older version can use that.
