my akeeba backup creates huge file.
how figure out wrong?
i don't know consider huge, can come example of backup file size(s) are?
in case, couple of suggestions - using (a) zip format or (b) jpa format backup files?
are excluding output directory (where backups stored) you're not backing previous backups?! might common oversight since default location of backup folder below, in system installations.
.
you can exclude folder backups (choose "exclude directories" option) or can change location of output directory somewhere outside site's folder, folder on server, or outside "root" folder (on hosting), , akeeba recommends that.
also can choose exclude database tables if not needed (for example extension uninstalled left behind db tables, can exclude them backup).
can give idea how big entire site (in windows, click on site's folder, , select "properties", properties dialogue opens , gives approximate size of files / folders combined.
if have lot of photos, video, audio content explain elevated backup size, since can quite large files.
also, depending on have in way of extensions, , content stored in database - few hundred or thousand articles make site quite large.
if don't want 1 large backup file can in 'part' files, and choose 'part' size in mb in configuration options. guessing trouble takes forever upload (or download) large file if you're downloading store offline, or upload restoring site (or takes while extract when restoring due size)?
