Joomla 3.5 Change Domain Name - Joomla! Forum - community, help and support

need changing domain name, please. i'm having serious difficulties.
i'm not experienced joomla.

would easier restore old files , use redirect, instead of transferring whole domain?

i created dummy website called joomla348
-- multilingual site worked okay, except menu glitches
-- simple site 2 forms, , few articles or categories.

then, following steps described in forum:

1. had host (imhosted) transfer old domain, dummy, new domain, registered (http://www.alianzamanzanillo.org).

result: files show in cpanel, website displays new , unbuilt site. none of articles, menus, categories or components other site show on end or front end.

2. in configuration.php, "live-site" setting, empty (' '), changing new domain name 'alianzamanzanillo.org' produced white screen no access site front end or end.

result: changed setting empty.

3. renamed existing .htaccess file .htaccess.bkp
changed htaccess.txt file .htaccess

result: no effect

4. changed .htaccess line "#rewritebase/" "rewritebase/" removing #

result: no effect

5. exported , checked database file using database/ phpmyadmin tool on cpanel. configuration.php file says database name changed jooml10, that's 1 checked. had no references old domain name (joomla348).

what missing???
after searching , searching forum, more confused ever.

a couple of points:
- not quite sure steps taking - changing domain name should more simple that.
-menu glitches - website should work perfectly, there no reason should have problems if website developed correctly.

to change domain, should need to:

1. point dns of new domain @ hosting (via domain panel)
2. reconfigure joomla - there couple of settings change in joomla admin configuration (paths log , temporary directories)
