Photoshop CS6 Slow Performance

hi guys,

 

wonder if can me one. i've noticed copy of cs6 has become slow , laggy.

 

symptoms:

unresponsive

repeated messages "out of memory"

gui unresponsive, goes grey

 

temp fix:

i've messed around memory settings see if helps, doesn't seem great deal. i've had set 90% , 50% , of same results.

normally when program hangs or becomes unresponsive, have close via task manager

 

system:

windows 7 pro

2.4ghz quad core cpu 64bit

4gb ram

 

photoshop cs6 13.1.2 x64

 

as write cpu usage 5% , physical ram 66% - surely there more enough keep photoshop ticking over?

 

any thoughts on how can sort out appreciated. becoming annoying can't use product , have keep repeatedly restarting it.
