Switching to Premiere
can answer me this:
i'm switch premiere cs6 fcp 7, , main form of filming canon dslrs (5dii, 7d, 60d). in fcp 7 log , transfer our footage.
in cs6, need "log & transfer" programs like cineform's neoscene or pavtube? or dump footage card onto hd , edit there? if latter, how decompress footage and/or need to?
in i'm reading or watching, dump footage hd. information me out.
thank you,
jim
welcome premiere. shoot on 5d , has been working great me since cs6 came out.
you have few options, , easier workflow fcp, since premiere works h.246 natively without need transcode.
you can either dump footage hd, , import .movs right bins in premiere , start editing...or oven preview footage right on card within premiere , bring on footage need. have access hoverscrub import, can shuttle through clips , pick ones need.
another option use prelude, comes bundled suite. program designed importing, transcoding, cataloging, organizing, , adding metadata footage before begin edit....it pretty powerful. can use program copy on cards , transcode or make backup copies @ same time. there lot of tutorials out there, awesome program.
the caveat editing h.264 files natively have have capable machine, since pretty cpu intensive. if machine can't keep up, may want go prores transcodes files.
