Global Categories and settings in joomla 2.5.1 - Joomla! Forum - community, help and support

i have joomla installation 2.5.14, 2 months made server migration company have accommodation site, apparently working ok, needed create categories articles , noticed functionality not working, or access categories or access global joomla settings.
already contacted company made migration keep backup 1 month have no way recover old files, analysis made problem did not me introduce resolution solution, told me server there files of higher version current version of joomla, may indicate occurred attempt joomla version update , may have damaged these features. remind me never tried update joomla.
the message appears when try access categories or global settings "404 - error has occurred component not found return control panel.".
i need help, not know how solve situation.

i have small box slides bottom right of webpage asking if want participate in survey related site. i plan remove/modify survey pop cant find located in joomla control panel. i've searched modules on home page menu comes up, template index.php, extensions, plugins, modules cant find related it. where commonly located ? suggest go extensions>manage>manage , order on id descending. show extensions added joomla. id's >10000. must 1 of them! Error when I try to record application simulation in Adobe Presenter 8

hello, have 30 day trial of adobe presenter 8 , subscription adobe captivate 6.  record application simulation within presenter, receive error after entering swf-name states captivate cannot started , check see if captivate configured run in administrator mode.
