wifi worked fine me in 11.04. upgraded 11.10 , situation bizarre. connection @ home still works fine (although strangely network information had been wiped had type in), it's wpa2 personal. came work, , can't detect either of networks @ work, 1 wpa2 enterprise other 1 open. activated network cellphone tether wpa2 personal well, computer managed find this. after deactivating cellphone network computer continued see more 10 minutes after, @ point put computer in sleep , brought out, @ point didn't see network more.

read 1 one thread new kernel, version 3 having bugs. booted grub, , there selected old kernel 11.04 version 2.6.38-11. did not solve problem.

a update in continuing , bizarre chain of events: after getting fed debugging this, decided try move files laptop desktop , work there. connected computer cellphone's wireless , ran rsync command, worked successfully. turned off phone's wireless. preparing move word desktop when wireless connections exist in area popped on laptop. connected preferred one, , worked (wpa2 enterprise).

in conclusion, wireless black magic.
