Thread: Configure firewall (Shorewall) to allow traffic for services on a Ubuntu Server
hello everyone!
have ubuntu server 11.04 x64 want secure.
server open internet , want able ssh/sftp machine , ssh-server runs on custom set port. want web server accessible internet. these tasks seems not hard perform want samba-shares accessible within local network , seems bit trickier.
if possible want able "stealth" ports necessary protect server further allow samba-shares automatically found within local network.
i've never configured firewalls before except router , bump bunch of problem when doing myself hoping tips or preferably guide on how this.
thank you!
(i've posted question on askubuntu since need answer rather quick. if against rules i'm not aware of, please forgive me , notify me close 1 of posts)
update:
on second thought i'd go ufw if same settings achievable ("stealth" ports).
