Thread: Ubuntu 11.10 - Clear Recent Files - Newbie

just got 11.10 upgrade few days ago , wondering if there easy way clear recent files , possibly prevent new ones showing up. found piece of code terminal clear files:

rm ~/.local/share/zeitgeist/activity.sqlite
zeitgeist-daemon --replace

, works enough, run , log out , login , recent files gone. along found piece terminal supposed prevent more recent file posts:

echo -n > ~/.recently-used.xbel
sudo chattr +i .recently-used.xbel

did not work @ all.

delete recently-used.xbel file inside ~/.local/share folder.

code:
rm ~/.local/share/recently-used.xbel
i'm using gnome-shell, btw, , works wonder. wish there's "gnome 2-ish" way clear recent files' list though...
