Thread: Virtualbox ?

i have couple quick questions regarding virtualbox. i'm running ubuntu 11.10 host , win7 ultimate guest.

when go install guest additions, says can't find iso. offers download fails due being "unable connect server"...:

i've never had happen , i'm bit unsure how fix it. it's kind of important me because i'm trying test viability of running ubuntu full time , using vm gaming , windows specific things. installing additions may rather irrelevant don't know. every win7 guest i've set up, regardless of host, unable utilize graphics hardware of host. there way around this? can't transparent windows in guests!...let alone actual gaming graphics!

and, setting ubuntu server using kernel virtualisation module this? know 1 of least-overhead ways of running vms , i'm bit reluctant go through hassle of implementing if it's not going want do.

now, guess i'll have windows 7 partition , use wine...

think that, long want play games 'needing graphics performance' should keep dual boot setup , run windows games in windows. unless of course, love tweak computer

guest additions make nicer experience run virtualbox, suggest download it. problem might internet connection not yet working virtual machine. (it might temporary problem @ virtualbox web site.)

several years ago set virtualbox (in ubuntu 8.04, upgraded 10.04) don't remember details, don't remember big problems it. think can advice around here, has more recent experience. nota bene, use wired internet connection.

Ubuntu
