Thread: Sound stopped working from laptop speakers

so, have no idea happened because couple of days ago worked fine.

sound laptop speakers not working @ all, sound headphones jacks still works fine.

did have problem spotify (run in wine) crashed couple of times, somehow don't see connection.

problem might have been update, because did run updates @ time.

have ubuntu 11.04 (i run in classic environment). use dell studio xps 1640 , have integrated hda intel soundcard.

when add (in terminal):

sudo gedit /etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base.conf

,
i have line: options snd-hda-intel model=dell-m6 added in end of document, , had long time.

try "save" document again (to see reaction) , following error message

in terminal:

(gedit:216 **: gtk-warning **: attempting store changes `/root/.local/share/recently-used.xbel', failed:
failed create file "/root/.local/share/recently-d.xbel.8wxj4v": no such file or directory

anyone got clue for?

i'm totally clueless here. there's still no sound speakers, still working fine via headphone.
