Thread: Can't print with Canon driver.
for several years, used canon ip4300 drivers canon australia & canon europe (cnijfilter-common_2.70-2_i386.deb & cnijfilter-ip4300_2.70-3_i386.deb etc).
according synapt, have latest versions installed.
somewhere around upgrade 11.04 driver stopped working, continue cups/gutenprint, forgot canon driver.
recently, in reinstalling printer via localhost631, found prefered driver oem canon ver.2.70 tried again.
interesting feature offers printing @ 600/1200/2400/4800dpi whereas gutenprint sticks @ 600dpi max.
unfortunately, can't printer work latest canon driver.
trying print test page sees job appear briefly in job list, disappear no trace & no reaction printer.
doing same browser in localhost631 produces same result, & job appears "completed".
no error messages anywhere, far know.
have idea start looking?
thanks!
think try looking system log messages after doing print. can reach these msgs terminal console window (think it's menu>accessories>terminal) using command dmesg
should display / may show if there internal system errors detecged kernal while doing i/o printer. possible screen print or perhaps try printing gedit or libreoffice ?
see if permissions issue. drivers may have been installed 'user' rather 'root' owner might give driver lower level of authority needs it's job. ? guess need find out folder contains driver. know ?
