Super User Conflicts Causing a Lock Out - Joomla! Forum - community, help and support
help!!
i changed acl settings (latest version of joomla 3) , found myself locked out of super user account. read super users inherit other group settings, got myself in using emergency hack, won't let me change super user acl settings. i've tried (including switching other group settings inherited, instead of denied). nothing helps - of super user settings "conflict" , "not allowed (locked)." i've been working on 3 hours , can't find solution. right have other groups set "inherited," i've tried every other setting , nothing works.
when change super using settings "inherited" , switch right away "allowed," turns green , says "allowed," save it, turns grey again. i'm frustrated right now. appreciated.

i figured out solution own problem, figured i'd post here in case else has issue it.
it few things:
1) have make sure user manager acl settings aren't conflicting global acl settings under global configuration --> permissions.
2) it's easier play around acl settings in global configuration, because affect user manager acl settings, not other way around, start there.
3) remembered permissions assumed denied unless set them allowed - i'd forgotten that. when remembered that, set public settings "not set" , not worry - fixed super user lockout issue.
this fixed issue me - it's helpful else! , if locked out, here's great step step helped me in , figure out i'd done wrong without hacking mess around database: http://coalaweb.com/coalaweb-blog/item/ ... user-trick (it didn't work ftp, had make edits directly in hosting account. it's easier way anyway, since hosts have editors in file manager now).
