Thread: Another GPG/PGP question

ok, i've read several online articles gpg, fall short of stating how protocol works.

far i've got:
2 large prime numbers (private key) generated , multiplied (public key). key generated each file (password). password encrypted using private key, placed header of (encrypted) file. basically:

private-key-encrypted(password)
-------------
password-encrypted(file contents)

fail miserably. in own expiriment:

private(7 * 3) = public(21)

file password = "aaa"

password encryption (letter substitution) = "hdh"

how use 21 on "hdh" arrive @ "aaa"

i'll preface saying have never used pgp/gpg, have experience cryptosystems, can out bit.

i'm assuming description of keys, using rsa. way rsa works public key used encrypting messages, while private key used decrypting cyphertexts. able let know public key can send encrypted messages can decode using private key. large numbers, prime factorization extremely complex np-complete problem, while easy figure out 7 , 3 21 impossible numbers in 1024-2048 bit range

hope can shed bit of light on trying done.
