Thread: Ubuntu 11.10 Slow on Compaq Presario c700

hello,i new ubuntu , linux in general decided give try. lot, experiencing extreme around slowness , lag @ tasks such opening applications , browsing web. ive been getting these annoying force shut down errors on occasion when opening ubuntu software center. dual booting ubuntu windows 7 , win7 runs smoother. aware pc isn't greatest , wasn't expecting mind blowing performance @ times ubuntu can borderline unusable. know if issues experiencing due hardware or if fixable. appreciate. , can poster here or sent email @ pdg1223@gmail.com

20gb partition on hard drive
pc:compaq presario c700 1gb ram intel pentium dual cpu processor t2310@1.46 ghz 1.47 ghz

i have been using ubuntu on old dell laptop , has been great, plenty fast. latest 11.10 seems slower.. not @ all!! stick because ubuntu problems new distros work out in month or less.

software download center slow ..may server problem ubuntu worldwide , many people trying download or might poorly configured.. time tell.
