Topics created with a linked Word doc do not update when I edit the .css file

hi, all:

i admit first of source document far pristine, has many styles many authors , came many source documents. admit despite using rh since 1995, linking documents didn't come me...now seemingly on hurdle, new challenges await...

in webhelp project have master page pointed @ modified .css, in subfolder linked topics.

i have assigned h1, h2 , h3 headings tahoma 18 pt. , have defined  my"normal" tahoma 12 pt. normal looks tahoma 12 pt in styles , formatting pod when selected topic has .css assigned it.

i have run several tests:

test i: topics no master page , no .css selected in appearance tab.

result: times new roman both header , normal (expected)

test ii: topics no master page same modified .css selected in appearance tab.

result: tahoma 18 pt header (expected), times new roman normal (not expected)

test iii: topics master page no .css selected in appearance tab.

result: times new roman both header , normal (not expected)

test iv: topics master file , same modified .css selected in appearance tab.

result: tahoma 18 pt header (expected), times new roman normal (not expected)

i have many other crazy styles came in when linked document, if understand why "normal" doesn't display font edited in .css file, think can connect dots rest.

thanks , regards,

tracy

hi tracy.

test iii give expected results. despite there being master page assigned, can override css. if there no css applied default font (times new roman) applied.

as other non-expected tests, you'll need bit of detective work. problem 1 of 2 things.

  1. your source style mapping. if still have messy styles in source , have not mapped them normal robohelp style, these can cause override.
  2. there style sheet override inside topic content. can assign style sheet project, topic or topic content.

one way find out going on roll sleeves , jump html. perhaps can post example here of see 1 of errant styles.
