adding a moving line to a map

i following instructions in new book cool tricks , hot tips have got stuck @ page 174 , steps 4 , 5.

not sure mean when apply crop map.  drag down map ; map outlined outline didappears when unclick.

in step 5 cannot find applied effects button. using pr e 10

i have no idea what's in book quick way make traveling line make 2 maps.

one line , 1 without line.

place 1 line on top 1 without line , add wipe transition on entire clip , set appropiate direction. done.

the time takes move line can set either shrinking or stretching map.
