Thread: Latest Oneric 10.10 (with latest updates) crashes on startup

hi,

after installing resent updates restarted laptop.

after showing standard startup-screen seconds startup-process stops , shows terminal last startups (foo... - [ok]) ubuntu did.
stops kinda randomly @ starting mysql.

when switch terminal-window (strg+alt+f1) , enter "startx" unity3d starts. apache , mysql working fine, problem doesn't seem mysql.

installed recent updates didn't fix problem. still crashes on startup.

can or tell me how start unity2d via 'startx'?
kind of information/logs should provide , how?

thx, hannes

i guess provided less info.

after restart got:

last start-up messages these:
code:
* stopping kernel messages * starting virtualbox kernel modules * starting bluetooth * pulseaudio configured per-user sessions saned disabled; edit /etc/default/saned * stopping anac(h)ronistic cron * starting anac(h)ronistic cron * stopping anac(h)ronistic cron

found threads suggested remove anac(h)ronistic.
did that.

got:

code:
* stopping kernel messages  * not starting jetty - edit /etc/default/jetty , change no_start 0 (or comment out)  * speech-dispatcher disabled; edit /etc/default/speech-dispatcher  ...

edited jetty startup, give try (i obiously don't not i'm doing) , got:

code:
* stopping kernel messages grep: character class syntax [[:space:]], not [:space:] ...

tried boot log say
code:
cat /var/log/boot (nothing has been logged yet.)

seems problem not obvious hoping. might easier re-install oneric.

better move post install & update section?
