Text Frame Auto-size and Data Merge

i have sneaky suspicion isn't has been fixed in id yet. have been struggling ever since cs4.

 

the document i'm designing directory old church directories 20 years ago. i'm using data merge pull data csv single text frame so:

 

<<surname>>, <<husbandwife>>

<<children>>

<<address>>

<<citystatezip>>

<<country>>

<<email>>

<<phone>>

 

the children field varies no lines 4 or lines, have auto-size enabled frame. idea there use data merge fill pages in column format. have used typefi auto-fit in past , distribute spacing align panel on each column, because data merge didn't figure height of text frame after typefi auto-fit done. preview works great single record. however, when previewing whole page or creating data merge, mis-aligned. figured cs6 had fixed problem moving typefi auto-fit id, can't find date. there way make data merge align frames after auto-size has done work?

if you're using indesign cs6, auto-size feature built in. it's in object > text frame options > auto size tab.

 

i tried auto-size feature little csv file , data merge , seems working on simple one-per-page merge. i'm using preview feature preview records. see pictures below:

i'll let try out further see if have same misalignment problems found typefi auto-fit.

 

but wouldn't optimistic. i'm pretty sure there no changes data merge feature in recent versions account variable frame size.
