Thread: BTRFS performance as a <root> partition is too slow
hello,
have installed ubuntu btrfs on root partition have found slow. find out if other have found same.
in case, system upgrade has measured in 'ice ages' take lonnnnng.
have found possible enable compression using btrfs *but* seems grub not able read <root> partition if enabled!!
have create <boot> partition ext3/4 able improve performance using compression.
not *bug* installer allow btrfs in <root> partition without having <boot> partition ?
please post comments , share experience btrfs filesystem.
thanks,
nicolas
this not answer you're looking for, it's 1 have. btrfs still buggy. tried once installing 11.10 when 11.10 in beta , had sorts of issues, 1 being grub couldn't find system image, , horrifically slow booting. solution have reinstall ubuntu using ext4 or other btrfs, until iron out of kinks. ext4 works me best. it's fast , stable.
