Thread: Need more administrative privilege with Unity

hello -

i'm setting newly installed u11.10 , working under unity
desktop.

ran problem installation of texlive2011.
chose install software downloading because
synaptic offers outdated texlive2009.

after downloading, started installer in terminal command:
install-tl -gui wizard.
texlive installer opens , tries install
/usr/local/texlive/2011
, returns message
"default not allowed or not writeable - please change."
did not run problem awhile ago when installed texlive under u10.04.
checked i'm working under administrator account.
tried starting installer command:
sudo install-tl -gui wizard
, got "command not found" error.

think means permissions need changed want check see if there more global way of improving administrative privileges.

try full path file, , use 'gksu' if it's graphical application, example:

gksu /home/randy/downloads/install-tl -gui wizard
