Thread: Noob: Help sharing folders between computers

hi. able set folder sharing between 2 different computers ubuntu on them , ipad. had been time since used ipad try connect shared folders, , keeps asking me username , password. how find them on ubuntu box files stored on? thought made samba anonymous. can helpo?

install samba configuration app , set let or set let username
, password. can @ samba config , see have set now. on bottom
of config file new samba shares.

code:

gedit /etc/samba/smb.conf

now samba tool gui set shares , permissions.
use path set: such as
/home/rick
home or

/home/rick/documents
documents

or make own , set share:
sudo mkdir /home/rick/shared
in samba make shared item.
/home/rick/shared
, set permissions, (have set permissions on every share.)

install gui app making shares.

sudo apt-get install system-config-samba

or can making them in bottom of config file below others
hand. see other shares , copy there's , replace new share wanted.
gksudo gedit /etc/samba/smb.conf
make share , hit save in upper left corner of gedit.
