Lightroom was unable to prepare the selected file at ... for editing. It will not be opened

   trying open image photoshop lightroom, getting error message. can help?

this due corrupt preference file. file can go "funny" , responsible kinds of strange behavior of lr. remedy replacing preference file.

btw: re-installing lr not replace pref. file since designed "survive" upgrades.
