Thread: Pre Upgrade Message

i started upgrade , got message. going create problems. opening proverbial can of worms.

third party sources disabled

third party entries in sources.list disabled. can re-enable them after upgrade 'software-properties' tool or package manager.

no, message tells custom ppas have added disabled on new installation, that's because of owners forget or not want release updated packages new ubuntu versions.

there's no harm in proceeding, remind software packages have installed ppas might not updates in future.

if want check whether ppas have updated packages new ubuntu version, open software sources , click on "other software" tab. list of ppas have added, select one(s) wish activate again , click on "edit", change "distribution" field name of ubuntu version have upgraded to, in lowercase (for example, "oneiric"). confirm "ok" , mark checkbox next ppa in list, click on close and, when asked update package lists, so. if error shows up, @ least 1 ppa not provide updated packages; reason, recommend re-enable 1 ppa @ time , check.
