Thread: Need help moving rescued "read-only" home folder to new venue.

several weeks ago ubuntu meerkat 10.10 os crashed during update , unable boot again. spent 2 weeks learning how rescue encrypted files until ran across program included in ubuntu 11.04 , 11.10 "ecryptfs-recover-private." (private being encrypted home folder)

downloaded 11.10 , burned live usb stick persistent memory save changes. inserting system pass-word "ecryptfs-recover-private" program decrypts "ecrypted" home folder , places copy of in live usb system files in temporary folder labeled /tmp/ecryptfs.xxxxx in read format.

can read files , see pics of grandkids, can't move folder or copy files using graphic interface. i've tried know, each time denies me because of not having permission. tried copying live usb , blank usb no avail.

have able reclaim files , move them need them? i'd copy entire folder venue. i've been using ubuntu 6 months , know little using terminal, i'm trying learn. please cyber-challenged old man become hero great-grand son. time , appreciated. thanks.
