How should I edit an alpha channel after saving?
i have series of files in improperly modified selection set prior saving selection, , around intended viewable area there hazy artifact seems correspond manually edited selection using quick mask (prior saving).
in other words, within area of alpha channel should invisible, there visible, unwanted grey-ish artifact, , think it's related how using brush edit selection in quick mask before saving.
now unable edit alpha channel, although adobe's own website says in order edit alpha channel, need select alpha channel (which doing) , paint @ 100% black or white brush either include or exclude parts of selection set.
when choose brush , start painting @ 100% black or white, nothing happens , can't figure out happening.
any appreciated.
the exact steps i'm taking below:
1) click on alpha channel (visible , ready editing), other channels visible not active.
2) selecting brush @ either 100% black or white
3) attempting paint alter alpha channel (i've tried painting on actual alpha channel in channels, , i've tried painting on alpha channel appears in layers, , neither works me).
clarification:
i able "edit" alpha channel cannot remove hazy artifact. can use 100% black or white remove pink/light red areas on either actual alpha channel (in channels area) or appears in layers, cannot remove areas grey-ish (well can paint them white can't paint them black, i.e. pink).
a teacher showed me quick fix process involves activating alpha channel, inverting selection, , deleting outside of alpha channel, , resaving file. worked @ 1 point, quick fix not working either (i ending visible, white space around intended visible area, rather invsible area).
edit (07:22 3.20.13) also, if @ photoshop registering actual alpha channle, doesn't match i'm seeing above, black , white alpha channel appears expected, , there not weird distortion i'm seeing above in pink/grey image.
so super confused , appreciate help!
it works correctly. alpha channel's black areas not entirely black, dark gray, translates partial transparency. adjust screen , make sure pick right colors mask...
