Unable to recover Admin login/password - Joomla! Forum - community, help and support

it's been 3 months since logged in admin , passwords tried did not work.

i have spent 2 hours scouring forum , performing tasks outlined in doc: https://docs.joomla.org/how_do_you_reco ... assword%3f

nothing worked. added user admin2 , able log front end not administrator.

i went softaculous through cpanel , changed admin password there. in phpmyadmin, refresh admin , can see there change password when try sign admin page, no go.

i need in administrator. started rebuilding site 6 months ago , thought of having start on sickening.

please help.

the methods in above link should work. did try "method 2" - both sections - change password , add new admin user?

do have other things running off database - did update correct "user" table? (match prefix joomla in database - prefix stated in configuration.php file).

only other thing think of check entering details correctly, these typical things out for:

1) upper case should lowercase, , vice-versa (make sure caps lock not on)

2) entering characters similar e.g. b (capital "b") , 8 (numeral 8 ) or (capital "i" (eye)), l (lowercase "l") , 1 (numeral 1) , little things that?

did put own password in, or 1 of sample passwords start with?

i can't think of else suggest, methods described should work.
