hello all.

have geek friends have tried forever me switch linux. well, here am, except it's not right.

in short:

had spare computer, gifted young friend little/no computer experience.
( hp notebook 210-1091)
, promptly downloaded music ( files share) , got blue screen of death ( or something)

instead of coming me, gives computer brother-in-law, 100 miles away declares harddrive dead , replaces it, formatting , installing ubuntu.
fine! turns out uses python, useless programmer in!! woo hoo!

ok, drivers got... deleted or corrupted , friend can't online, , no bluetooth driver...

blah blah.
decided should go windows 7, comparability hardware , since can not use computer well.

after horrible anguish ( recovery disk: formatted usb install, can't, need instillation cd, can't get!)

go put old drive in... seems never switched out.

ok. here am. dead in water. missing power cord external cd drive, stuck usb instillation ( , vent, old jump barrowed , never returned, , "spare" 2 mb short of holding file, got new jump, yeah.... wouldn't format. got workable jump , it's wrong cd!!)

recovery disk windows 7 starter
, not time.


anybody?
love play linux, not "time". , not spare computer, if accidentally wrong, in serious " professional trouble".

specific questions:
1. how determine if windows still installed?
2. how have run windows?
3.

ubuntu linux programmed in c. many of applications use python not exclusively.

1. if boots grub scren , windows option still there. if not, isn't.
2. find optical drive works, or way put windows disk onto usb, easy if have working drive.
