Member listing, Fabrik vs. JTAG Members - Joomla! Forum - community, help and support

i appreciate , bouncing ideas around.

i'm in non-profit organization purpose support community , first responders during ordinary circumstances or disasters.
right we're quite small group, growing quite fast. have different skills , different (internal) courses our members.

because of need way of keeping track of members, membership fees, fees courses , person took course @ date.

i did find jtag members directory, kind of seems ideal purpose - almost.
then found fabrik, seemed better - more advanced.

my thought this:

new member visit our website. register member , pay membership fee online. when done redirected form/questionere fill out contact information , particular skills.
our leaders/staff can see users information (and edit, if needed) - add information if own specific users, i.e. courses taken , on.

when (staff/leaders) click on username receive page user; contact information, skills, courses , team/board positions. want able search users particular skillset, or whos taken course @ specific date (like data filtering in ms excel).

i really possibility csv import/export in fabrik. data gathering in fabrik (and have l o t of data)! puts fabrik more on plus-side, since want centralize as possible our own website instead of using third-party trello, dropbox, etc.

am wrong in thinking fabrik? possible display list within list? have attend hogwarts able sort out?

i think absolutely right in thinking fabrik, featured component creating structured data applications in joomla. however, can used on many levels users different skill levels. simple list , form based solutions can created reasonable joomla skills, in hands of skilled developer can used advanced development platform complex systems. , therin lies problem. people basic skills start off building within capabilities, carried away project , end way beyond comfort zone. @ posts on fabrik forum, many of them users of type.

my recommendation create functional specification want develop, work out how of fabrik can using basic configuration. gap indicate might need higher skill levels or have sacrifice functionality. realise isn't simple process, avoid having half finished solution spend forever trying complete.

to create solution of degree of complexity in fabrik, inevitably @ various points have use combinations of php, sql, css, javascript, html , learn of joomla api , object model too.
