Thread: Security advice for newbie

hello. installed ubuntu yesterday , going using browser online banking , comping security important me. have installed firefox add-ons such https everywhere , no script not sure if enough.

know firewall question comes million times can please me? there other things need do, (such ports open or close, how go doing so, , recommended firewall programmes), or fine go ahead , use internet way things now? paranoid person main reason switching linux. don't know how type in computer language if can tell me things should type terminal make changes ports grateful. have been reading through thread:

far there not seem faq or tuturial on how set basic security clueless people.

linux comes basic security built in. recurring question people come windows (yes, 1 of once).

if not behind router, can turn on firewall, if behind router own firewall, you're ok.
