Thread: How to boost microphone input

i'm trying figure out how boost microphone input. i've seen advice ranging 'just turn up' 'get rid of pulseaudio'. , there posts going several years, of who's advice out of date. i'm looking simple way add few db mic gain, because it's capturing below normal level.

i've gone through inputs can find in alsa no help. there in pulseaudio can tweak? i've got intel integrated audio:
