Thread: Unable to run applications from DASH

this started happen today. if click on dash icon , click on of options there (media apps, internet apps, more apps) nothing happens. if search application (ie xterm, gedit, terminal) not find , list documents, downloads , music files. if press alt-f2 , try run xterm , press enter nothing happens , remains on run screen.

have attempted in resetting unity , unity icons. uninstalled unity-2d , reinstalled. rebooted , still same thing. appreciated backup , running can't run applications other ones on side dock launcher.

updates applied of today

i created new user (newuser) 1 user being used test out. logged in newuser, clicking on dash able search , run programs there. renamed affected users account directory user_bad , created fresh new folder user. logged in account user , once again able run , search programs dash. copied personal folders on user_bad folder user folder. looks went corrupt profile directory.

Joomal 3.6.3 update error - PHP temporary folder is not set - Joomla! Forum - community, help and support
