Wrong sidecar (LR3 - LR4)

hi,

 

i have 40k+ pictures in lr3. last month installed lr4 trial , started using it. created catalog xxx-2-2. did file renaming on several years , other adjustments on latest pictures. wasn't happy because slow , stopped using it.

then started using lr3 again catalog xxx-2.

most of pictures nikon raw (nef).

 

in lr3, no particular reason, of older pictures show wrong adjustments (sidecar). of time seems sidecar data has been moved 1 picture prior. dsc_001.nef has adjustments, cropping, rating, keywords, etc. dsc_002.nef; dsc_002.nef has adjustments, etc. dsc_003.nef , on. looks sidecar files have changed somehow name 1 step behind.

in other cases looks adjustments reaplied randomly. have lots of pictures upsidedown, unusual since of pictures should straight or +/- 90degrees only.

and have pictures capture time changed (the pictures mixed - sort them capture time). , that's wird, since no process should able rewrite capture time on several random pictures @ time.

 

there several months in several years affected; not pictures.

i removed files catalog 1 full month , imported them again. problem still there. issue seems within sidecar file.

so choice delete sidecars, , reapply adjustments, cropping, rating, keywording, etc. thousands of pictures....

 

i reinstalled lr4 , of problems seem dissapear. didn't go 1 one, @ first glance don't see upside down pictures anymore , wrong capture time. except ones "fixed" in lr3...

so understand have problems lr3 lr4 has written in sidecars , there compatibility issues. please comment.

 

now, how can fix back, before first installed lr4?

what can able use lr3 again?

perhaps have backup of catalog file before did this? catalog file work fine without reading sidecar files, , lr3 information correct.
