Can Adobe Illustrator match inner bevel effects of inDesign and Photoshop?

can adobe illustrator match or simulate inner bevel effects of indesign , photoshop? if possible, please explain how soft inner bevel on type or vector shape in adobe illustrator cs4 can set identical (or, @ least, close) layer styles of ps , type/fill/stroke/object effects of id. far, have not been able achieve same 3d extrude , bevel in ai. want solid red object soft 16 point white-tint highlight , soft 16 point black tint shadow. if not possible 3d extrude , bevel settings, must or done manually gradient mesh tool?
