long time joomla user , have had both , bad experiences extension developers. can offer few tips first timers:
1. access: when considering extension sure go contact information on developers site. if appear inaccessible, - steer clear!
2. check out reviews, cautious when reading: many joomla users novices , happy have upload work first time. and, nice people inclined things. may want more glance @ few reviews. closer! how many reviews there? how many downloads have there been?
3. editions: nice see developer longevity. if see demo page looks poorly done, or developers website mess, chances there extension mess. if see pretty slick not endorsement, sign.
4. restitution: big one. recourse have if developer doesn't deliver? how ever reclaim have lost when halfway around world? if states me, finding way fair settlement across pond impossible. [ redacted ] make sure utilize payment method allows recourse in case there issues. never encounter them, have , can tell frustrating when unscrupulous actor dupes out of money. use caution when selecting commercial extensions!
