Prevent users from editing core Joomla email address? - Joomla! Forum - community, help and support

we use contact enhanced (joomla extension) create member directory of registered users of website, , give each registered user ability edit member directory listing (which feature of contact enhanced). have contact enhanced set-up if user changes email address via front-end editing of contact enhanced (member directory) entry, automatically update core joomla user account/profile new email address.

however, there doesn't seem way reverse of (go core joomla user profile email address -> contact enhanced) , therefore if don't prevent registered users being able edit user profile's email address, 2 can out of sync easily. however, don't want prevent access user profile entirely, since registered users go change password.

any suggestions how can prevent registered users editing core joomla user profile email address? believe override of actual template file contains user profile information , remove email address template file, thinking there had better way? thanks!

actually, tried template override method , can't seem figure out edit can hide email address field appearing when user goes "edit user profile" page...?
