Thread: Cannot mount video dvd

hi,

have strange problem need help.

have 2 video dvds cannot mount in ubuntu in 1 machine (machine a), when inserted can hear dvd drive grinding away dvds not mount. have no problem mounting , watching video dvds on machine in ubuntu except these two. have tried ubuntu 10.10 , 11.04 , both fail mount these 2 dvds on machine a.

however, machine has small windows partition, 1 of dvds mounts , plays in wndows.

ubuntu 11.04 installation portable, installed in external drive , can booted different machines. boot off older crappy laptop (machine b) , can play both dvds! since portable same ubuntu11.04 installation tested on both machines, settings , configurations same.

sorry if bit confusing, basically

1) dvds ok since can play them in machine b

2) ubuntu ok since in machine b both play in ubuntu (11.04)

3)dvd drive in machine ok since have played dvds on many times in ubuntu. have never had problem except these two.

4) yet @ least 1 of them plays in machine in windows.

wondering why can't mount these 2 in machine in ubuntu, have been problem , how can fix it.

additional information. sure able play 1 of dvds in ubuntu machine few times before.

possible culprit regional code thingy? how find out?
