Thread: Help with vsftpd setup

hello,

can't figure out how setup vsftp correctly. need achieve have user per name-based virtual host.

i'm using ubuntu server 10.04.3 lts (vm physical network replication).

have 2 name-based virtual hosts work fine httpd (apache2) eg. domain1.lnx & domain2.lnx , can access them host machine , other machines connected on network outside world (if outside machine points domains hosts file external ip).

have installed vsftpd command:
sudo apt-get install vsftpd
, get:
vsftpd start/running. process ####

can tell working accessing machine network, , login prompt in browser.

i'm getting lost.
how create users , add them virtual hosts.

file structure virtual hosts
#1 sits in /srv/www/domain1.lnx/public_html/
#2 sits in /srv/www/domain2.lnx/public_html/
#3 ...
etc.

need user example named usr_domain1 access /srv/www/domain1.lnx <!-- folder only!
others should follow same naming conventions. (usr_domain2 domain2.lnx, usr_domain3 domain3.lnx)

i've searched around can't make work.

ps. i'm doing simulate working linux server, because i'm going self 512 linode host sites , client's sites , wan't ready setup linode ease.

if looking transfer files securely, should @ sftp instead of ftps. part of package openssh-server , requires no additional configuration on server side.

on client side, there many sftp clients filezilla , built-in ones nautilus , konqueror.
