Thread: installing on external HDD

hi all, i'm trying install 11.10 on external usb hdd, installer returns saying installing grub /dev/sdd (my usb drive) fails , installer crashes.

work pc (supposedly doing work things on )changing internal hard drive @ no go, can't install grub there.

general idea when external hard drive removed pc boot when given me, plug in (or switch on) external drive , can dual boot.

ideas? many thanks!

sorry should have said i've checked basics - pc can boot hdd, , before internal drive in boot order.

i've tried twice more 2 different downloads , hit same problem (i tried mini cd gets confused internal raid set up) installing fine until boot loader crashes installer @ removing files stage. can't see way install ubuntu without bootloader in installer menus?

Joomal 3.6.3 update error - PHP temporary folder is not set - Joomla! Forum - community, help and support

hi -- after after loading files of joomla 3.5 program, went site , tried open complete installation. got message: fatal error: require_once(): failed opening required '/homepages/37/d199794875/htdocs/gnustories/libraries/import.legacy.php' (include_path='.:/usr/lib/php5.5') in /homepages/37/d199794875/htdocs/gnustories/includes/framework.php on line 15 ran fpa program. hope way make available here. http://gnustories.org/fpa-en.php winku your domain name seems not working - not showing fpa report php page holding page generated isp (1 & 1) the easier way generate report fpa script , copy reply of thread (that intended way done). suggest review instructions on generating report makes format suitable forum.
